Meant To Be

It doesn’t take long for anyone to notice: lingerie is my passion. I can get obsessed with soft & delicate laces and strong feminine looks, but over the years my focus has shifted towards comfort. A few months ago I found out that the Papeterie where I used to work for years as a student turned into a lingerie boutique. I know what you’re thinking: this must be fate?! I totally agree.
Although well known in the Netherlands, Love Stories opened its first boutique in the groendalstraat. It’s a flirty young collection combining colours, prints, texts and textures. For a person whose indecisiveness is a daily challenge, this is a curse and a blessing at the same time and usually results in an empty wallet but a happy closet. For a now I try to stay away until the new collection arrives. And Love Stories, if you read this, I have some suggestions for your collection😉 PM?

Figuring Out the Basics

Shani, you mean something insane like this?

While Shani  keeps me entertained of her progress (and everyone else entertained, since I’ll share all the pictures I get), I guess I’ll be working on my own personal NY’s resolutions….
This year, I won’t be putting any sports/weight related goals in my to-do list. In the last few years, I’ve made exercising and eating healthy-ish a part of my life. I’m actually happy (I might be the first person on the internet using this word to describe their diet regime – the horror!) with the balance I’ve created of eating and drinking certain things moderately and exercising a few times a week. I’ll never have the thigh gap and I’ll shamelessly tuck in my belly when a picture is taken but all in all, when I can still wear the same jeans I bought 3 years ago, I’m not complaining.
So, what do I want to work on this year? Well, more or less everyone reading this knows that I am in a LDF with Shani and everyone else for that matter, except my husband. For those who don’t know, LDF- it’s an abbreviation I just made up meaning Long Distance Friendship (Soooo going to trademark this) . For the past 3 years, I’ve mostly been packing and unpacking the little amount of stuff I have, confusing friends with my different international numbers but most of all, realizing the fact that you miss your friends and family more and more each time you leave.

So in short, my prime NY’s resolution is really to keep in touch with everyone I miss, letting them see the things that are keeping me busy…hopefully a bit more fun than my sad Whatsapp messages pleading for a Skype call…

Sports and a Healthy Lifestyle

More sports & healthy food have been my new year’s resolution for years. Regretfully every year ends quite the same as it started: witlh ideas, strategies & take-away Thai.

So, 2015 I wanted to really change something, to take the bull by its horns. New job, a new hobby, more home-made dinners and more sports. Of course, I bought the outfits & accessories to match it: running shoes, tights, sportsbra, yoga top, dozens of tea towels, a nicer dicer…

Although I did find a new job and started some new hobbies, I didn’t quite succeed in the healthy direction. Six Week Sixpack & Thirty Day Shred are no match for the leel of procastination I developed over the years. So this year, I thought of a new strategy: instead of working on my body to reach a goal (come on sixpack! ), I will now put myself a goal to which the body will follow. And who knows, maybe I’ll find some strength and determination on the way. This year’s resolution: doing a backward bend handstand and finding out how this asana is called!
